FAQs

What is grey-area drinking, or middle-lane drinking?

It is the space between the odd social drink and full dependence. You are not waking up needing a drink, and nobody around you would say you have a problem. But the wine has quietly become the thing you reach for most nights. The reward at the end of the day, the appointment at six o'clock.

You function. You cope. And you still spend more time thinking about drinking, and about not drinking, than you would ever admit out loud.

Some people call it middle-lane drinking. If you keep asking yourself whether it counts, you are probably already in it.

Who do you work with, and who is this not for?

I work with grey-area drinkers. Middle-lane women who are functioning well, nowhere near rock bottom, who know the nightly wine is costing them more than they let on. If that is you, you are in the right place.

I am a coach and not a medical practitioner. I am a sober life and positive psychology coach, and I have been sober for eight years.

I do not work with anyone who is physically dependent on alcohol, or with anyone whose drinking is being managed under medical supervision. That is medical territory rather than coaching territory, and you deserve proper clinical care for it. If you are unsure which side of the line you are on, speak to your GP first.

This is about being straight with you, not turning you away.

How much does sober coaching cost?

Two options, both private and both one to one.

The Rock Sobriety Method is ninety days of weekly hour-long coaching with me, with WhatsApp accountability between calls and reviews at thirty, sixty and ninety days. £1,497, or three monthly payments of £499.

The Focused Six is a concentrated six weeks, one session a week, for the woman who has already decided and wants to get on with it. £798, or two payments of £399.

No hidden extras, no upsell waiting at the end, no annual contract. What is listed is what you get.

I know that is real money. So here is the comparison nobody makes on a coaching website. A bottle most nights runs to somewhere around £250 a month, which is roughly £3,000 a year going through the recycling. The Method costs less than half of that, once, and at the end of it you are not still doing the 6pm negotiation.

Before you commit to anything we have a twenty minute call, free, so you can hear how I work and I can tell you honestly whether I am the right person for you. If I am not, I will say so.

What is the difference between the 90 Day Rock Sobriety Method and The Focused Six?

The Method is the deep dive. The first thirty days get the alcohol out. The next sixty rebuild your footing through the foundational pillars so there is something solid underneath once the wine is gone.

The Focused Six is a 42-day sprint. Six private sessions across six weeks, sharp and practical, for the woman who has already decided and needs someone in her corner while she follows through.

The honest way to choose: if you are still arguing with yourself about whether to stop, take the ninety days. That argument is the actual work, and six weeks will not finish it.

Is this the same as AA or a twelve step programme?

No. There are no steps, no sponsor, no higher power, and no calling yourself an alcoholic in a room full of strangers.

Twelve step works for a lot of people and I would never talk anyone out of it. It was built for a different problem from the one you have. You are not in crisis. You are a capable woman with a habit that has long outstayed its welcome, and that needs a strategy rather than a new identity.

Because moderation is where women get stuck. You cannot rebuild anything while you are still negotiating with yourself every evening.

Ninety days off gives your body and your head enough room to actually change. It breaks the habit and clears the noise so you can start trusting your own decisions again.

Cutting down keeps the negotiation open. That is the whole reason it does not work.

Why ninety days alcohol free? Why not just cut down?

The programme is alcohol free from start to finish. That part is not up for discussion, because half measures are exactly what has kept you here. I firmly believe that if you have a discussion in your head about how much you can drink, moderation is not going to work.

What happens afterwards is your call, made by a woman who has had ninety clear days to think about it rather than one deciding at six o'clock on a Tuesday. Most women who get that far do not want it back. That is not a promise, it is just what tends to happen.

Do I have to stop drinking forever?

Is coaching confidential? Will anyone find out?

Yes, it is confidential. Sessions are private, I do not share client names, and I never use anyone's story without their written permission.

You do not have to announce anything to anybody. Plenty of women do this quietly for weeks before they tell a single person.

Where are you based, and can we work together if I am not local?

I am in the UK and all coaching happens online, so where you live matters far less than whether we can find a regular slot in your week that you will actually protect.

Go to the contact page and fill out your details. I will then arrange a twenty minute call, privately, to talk about where you are with the nightly wine and which route fits and if we can work together.

No pressure and no hard sell. I have no interest in coaching someone who has to be talked into it.
